Born 1931 Manchester, England
John moved to South Africa in 1970 working and an electrical engineer in Johannesburg.
On retiring in 1991, he enrolled for a course in sculpture and resurrected his dormant interest in art.
This is when he discovered his unique talent for capturing in wax (which is later cast in bronze) the movement and essence of our African wildlife.
He began creating bronze pieces which involved waxing, gating and fettling of the art piece. (Lost wax technique)
His work is inspired by his love of the abundant African wildlife and can be found in collections as far afield as USA, China, Europe and Sri Lanka.
